Ranking the top 2016 free agents

The NFL season isn’t yet halfway over, but that doesn’t mean it’s too soon to look ahead toward the offseason. The truth of success in the NFL is that many of the best teams have an ability to manage the roster for both the present and future. It’s a 365-day exercise to evaluate the players who provide the team the best chance to win now and going forward. But with many moving parts, teams NFL have a tall order to keep their core players, or at least NFL Jerseys Cheap to prevent them from reaching unrestricted free agency.

And with that in mind, below is an early look at the top 10 unrestricted free NFL Jerseys Cheap agents-to-be during the 2016 NFL offseason:

1. Von Miller Jerseys, outside linebacker, Denver Broncos Jerseys

Think about the market and interest for Ndamukong Suh Jerseys last offseason: The criteria was essentially any team with cap Myles Jack space and an affinity for good players. Miller is in the same boat. He turns 27 in late March and has a rare combination of length, explosion and in-line power, plus a roulette of pass rush moves that make him unblockable. A deal comparable to the one Chiefs outside linebacker Justin Houston Jerseys signed (six years, $101 million, $52.5 guaranteed) seems like a reasonable estimation for Miller, if not more.

Jason Garrett: Greg Hardy won’t be disciplined

Dallas Cowboys Jerseys coach Jason Garrett said Monday that defensive end Greg Hardy Jerseys will not be disciplined Murray Carroll for entering the special teams huddle and slapping the clipboard of special teams coach Rich Bisaccia in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s loss to the New York Giants Jerseys. authentic-on-field-nfl-jerseys

Garrett said he spoke with Hardy about how he can channel his emotions better, but otherwise attributed the incident to passion, engagement and investment in the outcome of the game.

While the video tape of Hardy’s actions has raised eyebrows in the media, Garrett emphasized that the behavior “was not a big deal from anybody inside our football team and inside this building.”

Garrett referenced Hall of Famer Michael Irvin as a player who encouraged teammates, even across position units.

“I think anytime you evaluate a player, it starts with who he is and what he’s bringing to the team,” Garrett continued. Wholesale NFL Jerseys Authentic “I think certainly you have standards for how you want your players to practice, how you want your players to play.

“And those standards really don’t change based on how the player is playing or how productive the player is. Certainly, guys who are really, really good players for you, oftentimes they earn credibility because of how they go about it.”

The Cowboys knew they were getting a controversial player when they signed Hardy in March. Since activating him from the suspension list early this Jason month, they have publicly addressed not just Sunday’s incident, but also questionable remarks Hardy made about Tom Brady Jerseys’s wife.

Jason Pierre-Paul meets with Giants for latest physical

authentic-nfl-jerseys-wholesale-chinaJason Pierre-Paul Jerseys is meeting with the New York Giants Jerseys. Cardinals Will this be a tangible step toward a return to action or just another tri-state cameo for the Pro Bowl pass rusher?

NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Monday that Pierre-Paul went to the team facility for his latest physical, according to a source informed of his plans. It is the second in-season checkup for Pierre-Paul, who lost a finger and damaged other parts of his hand in a July 4 fireworks accident. The Giants sent JPP back to Florida after the first examination.

The two sides are working under a deadline. Pierre-Paul has until Nov. 17 to sign the team’s one-year, $14.8 million franchise tender. If he doesn’t sign before that date, he won’t play this season. If Wholesale NFL Jerseys USA the Giants rescind the tender, Pierre-Paul becomes an unrestricted free agent.

So why hasn’t Pierre-Paul signed the tender? A signed deal would give the Giants the opportunity to move him to the non-football injury list, Ravens a designation that could cost JPP millions. Both sides Wholesale NFL Jerseys USA are maneuvering, set against the backdrop of ongoing uncertainty whether Pierre-Paul is still physically capable of playing football.

It’s one big mess for the Giants, who lead the NFC East at 4-3 but have badly missed Pierre-Paul’s ability to get to the quarterback. The question is whether JPP can still be that guy. The Giants deemed him physically unable to compete after their first examination. If they still feel that way after this week, we could be looking at the end of Pierre-Paul’s Giants career.

Ravens perplexed by illegal formation penalty on opening drive

IFGLENDALE, wholesale nfl jerseys Ariz. — Another disputed officiating call on Monday Night Football has the Baltimore Ravens Jerseys scratching their heads.

The Ravens had put together their most productive opening drive when guard John Urschel Jerseys caught a 6-yard pass to move Baltimore wholesale jerseys to the Arizona 7-yard line. But the Ravens were flagged for illegal formation because the officials didn’t acknowledge Urschel had reported as an eligible receiver. Replays cheap jerseys showed that Urschel motioned to the refereed and pointed to his jersey number before going to the huddle.

Ravens coach John Harbaugh had a couple of talks with officials after the play to get an explanation Wholesale NFL Jerseys China.

Moved back by the 5-yard penalty, the Ravens eventually settled for cheap nfl jerseys a Justin Tuck Jerseyser Jerseys 44-yard field goal. It marked Baltimore’s first points on an opening drive this season.

This is the latest officiating call that has come into question Wholesale NFL jerseys on Monday Night Football. Three weeks ago, the officials didn’t penalize the Seattle Seahawks Jerseys for a batted ball out of the end zone. Two weeks ago, NFL officials failed to correct an NFL Schedule 18-second run-off_dicKeepLinks5 by the clock operator in San Diego.

Former NFL vice president Myles Jack of officiating Mike Periera also tweeted that he was surprised by the ruling.

Marcus Mariota misses practice, remains day to day

Marcus Mariota missed another day of practice on Thursday. Mariota rehabbed his sprained cheap jerseys MCL and watched backup quarterback Zach Mettenberger Jerseys lead Tom the Titans’ workout. authentic-nfl-jerseys-cheap-wholesale

Ken Whisenhunt told reporters he’s pleased with Mariota’s progress and would have cheap nfl jerseys a lot more information wholesale jerseys Friday on the rookie’s wholesale nfl jerseys playing status against the Falcons at home on Sunday.

Mariota was optimistic he’ll be under center for Week 7 and said on Wednesday his knee is Cardinals feeling better every day.

The No. 2 overall pick got off to a fast start, but he and the Titans’ offense have struggled the last two weeks, scoring only a combined 23 points in losses Wholesale NFL Jerseys Cheap to the Dolphins and Bills.

Tom Brady, not Aaron Rodgers or Andy Dalton, is NFL MVP (so far)

There should be no doubt. The NFL’s mythical MVP (through Week 6) award should go to New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady. (He has won two traditional MVP awards, in 2007 and 2010, and countless midseason nominations, but has Brady ever received an illustrious pre-midseason honor? I think not.) I’m on board with nearly 60 percent of ESPN’s NFL Nation reporters who named Brady as the league’s best player in cheap jerseys voting this week. Three other players received votes — Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers Jerseys, Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton Jerseys and Atlanta Falcons running back Devonta Freeman Jerseys — but none have hit Brady’s level to this point. Oh, what the heck. For the fun of it, let’s flesh out the Brady argument and then run through arguably the 10 most valuable players of the season’s first nfl draft six weeks. Brady isn’t just the quarterback on the NFL’s top team, as determined both by ESPN’s Power Rankings and Football Power Index. He’s playing with a steely precision unmatched throughout the league. His 70.6 completion percentage leads all qualifying quarterbacks (with at least 100 attempts), and his only interception came on a pass that bounced off receiver Julian Edelman Jerseys’s hands. Of his 197 attempts, 14.7 percent have been judged via video analysis to be off-target. That’s the fourth-lowest rate among quarterbacks. When it’s said that a quarterback is “focused,” this is what they mean. In addition to throwing 14 touchdown passes against two interceptions and compiling the NFL’s highest Total Quarterback Rating (84.2), Dalton has produced remarkably consistent results on deep passes. His 64.1 percent completion rate on throws of at least 15 yards leads the NFL. He’s also completing 58.3 percent of throws that travel at least 20 yards in the air, also a league high, in leading the Bengals to a 6-0 start. 49ers-jerseys-for-sale-cheapThe trendy and accurate description of the reigning NFL MVP is that he is playing the position at a graduate level. One example: Rodgers has completed all six of his passes, for 210 yards and a touchdown, when drawing opponents offside. No one is close to as good as Rodgers at capitalizing on those free plays. The wholesale jerseys Cleveland Browns’ Josh McCown is the only quarterback with more than one such completion. The Arizona Cardinals are favorites to win the NFC West in large part because Palmer is healthy and dealing in Bruce Arians’ offense. His QBR (79.6) ranks fourth in the NFL, and his 14 touchdown passes are tied for second. But his command of the cheap jerseys position has been most evident on play-action plays. He’s completing 80 percent of such passes and averaged 12.7 yards per attempt on them, best in the league. Ryan hasn’t had the fantasy numbers of some other candidates. His eight touchdown passes are tied for 14th in Lead the NFL, and his average of 291.8 yards per game ranks sixth. But his impact on the Falcons’ 5-1 start is clear. Ryan has led four fourth-quarter comebacks — two more than anyone else in the league — including three game-winning drives. His QBR in the fourth quarter/overtime is 89.3, the NFL’s third highest. The San Diego Chargers are 2-4, and in playing catch-up against big deficits, Rivers leads the NFL in yardage (352.7 yards per game), completions (177) and attempts (253). He has done it via a short, efficient passing game that has largely replaced the Chargers’ running offense. Rivers has completed 82 percent of throws that travel 5 or fewer yards past the wholesale nfl jerseys line of scrimmage, second in the NFL, and averages a league-high 8.2 yards per attempt on them. Finally, a non-quarterback! Freeman’s 801 combined yards (505 rushing, 296 receiving) leads the next-best running back by more than 100 yards. He has produced a league-high 42 first downs, eight more than anyone else. Freeman is averaging 4.76 yards per carry and 9.25 yards per catch, averaging out to a stunning 5.8 yards for cheap nfl jerseys each of his 138 total touches. The third member of the Falcons’ MVP triumvirate has been slowed the past two weeks by injury but still ranks second in the NFL in yards (638) and first downs via catch (34). Ryan is targeting him on 32.9 percent of Jones’ routes, the third-highest percentage among NFL receivers, a testament both to their chemistry and Jones’ ability to get open against defenses focused on him. It’s impossible to ignore Hopkins’ historic pace with arguably the worst quarterback arrangement in the league. Some production has come with the Houston Texans in deep deficits, but he still leads the NFL in yardage (726) by a wide margin. Hopkins is well beyond the pace Calvin Johnson Jerseys set in 2012 en route to breaking Jerry Rice’s 16-game yardage record. Through six games of that season, Johnson had 592 yards. Yep. The classic journeyman deserves his share of credit for the New York Jets’ 4-1 start. (Their defense and coaching deserve more, but play along here!) More than anything, Fitzpatrick has ensured the Jets’ success at their best opportunities. His 99.8 QBR in the red zone — thanks to eight touchdowns passes, one touchdown via rush, no interceptions and no sacks — is the NFL’s best.

Cardinals lead Comeback Player of the Year candidates

Every week in this space, Chris Wesseling will roll out the power rankings for one specific NFL position, attribute or award.

So far, we have covered Offensive Rookie of the Year candidates, defensive front sevens, satellite backs, wide receivers, the Around The NFL quarter-season All-Pro team and best offseason bargains. With a cool half-dozen Comeback Player of the Year candidates fueling Arizona’s rise to the top of the NFC West, it’s a cheap nfl jerseys good time to review the top comeback players.

As this is the most nebulous NFL award, let’s quickly examine its history.

Since 1972, when Pro Football Weekly began handing out the award, quarterbacks have won roughly half of the time. If there is no obvious choice at the other positions, voters typically default to the quarterback who exceeded expectations (i.e. Philip Rivers in 2013). It will be interesting to see if Andy Dalton is considered under that precedent even though he was simply a league-average starter in 2014.

Running backs must excel in returning from a debilitating knee injury (Adrian Peterson, Willis McGahee, Garrison Hearst).

Wide receivers must produce a career year (Randy Moss, Steve Smith) on the heels of a disappointing season or take advantage of weak competition for the award (Robert Brooks).

Rob Gronkowski became the first tight end to win the award last year.

The criteria shift to suit the whims of the voters, often leaving production as the decisive factor. Since breakout stars such as Tyler Eifert, Dion Lewis and Travis Benjamin were never cheap jerseys established as NFL starters prior to this season, they are not convincing candidates for the award. Since James Jones Jerseys led the Raiders in receiving last year, he’s not a compelling choice.

On to the list:

1. Eric Berry, Kansas City Chiefs safety: The only defensive players to win are Lyle Alzado (1982), Bryant Young (1999) and Joe Johnson (2000). After beating Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, Berry will have strong case to join that trio. He has not only returned to the field, but has also assumed his rightful place as one of the NFL’s best safeties. authentic-nfl-jersey-cheap

2. Carson Palmer Jerseys, Arizona Cardinals quarterback: Recently described as a wholesale jerseys “godsend” to the organization by general manager Steve Keim, Palmer should remain in the MVP hunt all season long. Against all odds, a 35-year-old quarterback written off as a washed-up journeyman two years ago is currently exhibiting more arm talent, better footwork and a higher understanding of the game than his career year of 2005. Bruce Arians believes Palmer is playing as well as any quarterback ever has under his watch, high praise coming from a coach who has worked with Peyton Manning, Ben Roethlisberger and Andrew Luck.

3. Chris Johnson Jerseys, Arizona Cardinals running back: Johnson merits legitimate consideration simply because he had fallen so far from his 2,000-yard heights of 2009. He was signed as an afterthought in mid-August, five months after taking a bullet to the shoulder. With Johnson leading the way as the NFL’s fifth-leading rusher, the Cardinals are averaging 4.7 yards per carry, a dramatic improvement from their league-low 3.3 yards per carry last season.

4. Larry Fitzgerald Jerseys, Arizona Cardinals wide receiver: Fitzgerald’s disappointing production from 2012 through 2014 was due to a confluence of injuries, poor quarterback play and an adjustment to the slot in Arians’ offense after playing the outside “X” position his entire career. That didn’t stop wholesale nfl jerseys the football world from jumping to the conclusion that the eight-time Pro Bowler was not just past his prime, but also bordering on liability status.

That couldn’t be further from the truth. Palmer has a league-best 148.7 passer rating on throws to Fitzgerald, who leads all receivers in touchdowns, yards per route run and receptions of 20-plus yards. In his 12th season, he’s on pace for career highs in receptions (108), yards (1,458) and touchdowns (15). Every game, all season

And now for a not-so-random anecdote: “It’s a funny thing,” World Golf Hall of Famer Gary Player said last week. “I met Fitzgerald yesterday and he reminded me so much of [Nelson] Mandela. He had Brady Patriots such love in his heart and warmth … I know he’s a real superstar, but he really made an imprint on me.”

5. Tyrann Mathieu Jerseys, Arizona Cardinals defensive back: “Honey Badger” is a litmus-test player, just as Jordy Nelson was early in 2013 and DeAndre Hopkins in 2014. Their week-to-week excellence is so obvious that the only skeptics remaining are those not watching the games. The best all-around defensive back in football this year, Mathieu was one of a handful of no-brainer picks for our quarter-season All-Pro team two weeks ago.

6. Brandon Marshall, New York Jets wide receiver: Acquired on the cheap after playing through a high-ankle sprain and fomenting dissent in the Bears locker room last season, Marshall is the first Jets wide receiver since Don Maynard in 1968 to generate four consecutive games of 100-plus yards. One of the NFL’s most effective red-zone threats, Marshall is averaging 102 yards and nearly a touchdown per game.

7. Doug Martin, Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back: This year’s version of the Mark Ingram career renaissance, Martin is a former first-round pick running with renewed purpose and elusiveness after the organization declined to pick up his fifth-year option in the offseason. His tackle-breaking three-touchdown performance versus the Jaguars in Week 5 was one of the most impressive by a running back this year.

8. Adrian Peterson7, Minnesota Vikings running back: Peterson’s per-game average of 86.4 rushing yards ranks first among running backs who have started all of their team’s games. With flashes of 2012 MVP form, Peterson NFL Draft has bounced back in resounding fashion after missing the final 15 games last year.

9. Sean Lee, Dallas Cowboys linebacker: Entering this season, Lee had appeared in just 11 of 32 regular-season games since signing a seven-year, $42 million contract in August of 2013. After missing the entire 2014 campaign with a torn ACL, the Cowboys shifted him from the middle to the weakside. The transition has been an unqualified success as Lee has been Dallas’ best defensive player, highlighted by Defensive Player of the Week honors in Week 2.

10. NaVorro Bowman, San Francisco 49ers linebacker: Whereas Lee is playing as well as ever, Bowman is still working his way back to dominant pre-injury form. Although he racked up 15 tackles versus the Ravens in Week 6, he doesn’t move quite as well in coverage as he did when he was a Defensive Player of the Year candidate in 2013.

“Laterally and some of the man coverage type things … you might be able to see the fact he’s coming back, a little bit,” Joe Flacco said last week. “In terms of being a leader and coming down hill and being able to tackle and straight-line things, he’s himself and still playing at a high level.”

Tuesday NFL preview: Titans, Steelers have quarterback questions

NFL Nation reporters look ahead to what Tuesday has in store for each team.AFC EAST

Buffalo Bills: The Bills took Monday to get acclimated to the time change after arriving in London early in the morning. They’ll be back to their normal practice scheduled Wednesday. The biggest question as the week unfolds for the Bills: Will quarterback Tyrod Taylor Jerseys play against the Jaguars? Taylor didn’t look too hampered by a knee injury when he was warming up prior to Sunday’s game against Cincinnati, so with several more days of rest, a return in London this weekend could be realistic. — Mike Rodak

Miami Dolphins: The Dolphins will spend Tuesday finalizing their game plan against the Texans. The major question is how to stop Pro Bowl defensive end J.J. Watt, who should have an advantage against Miami’s inconsistent offensive line. — James Walker

New England Patriots: What might linebacker Jamie Collins do for an encore? After leaping over the line of scrimmage to block a PAT late in Sunday’s fourth quarter in a highlight-reel play in Indianapolis, Collins’ athleticism is once again in the spotlight. During NBC’s broadcast, analyst Cris Collinsworth said Colts coaches told him that other than J.J. Watt, Collins is the only defensive player in the NFL they have to account for in their game plan. — Mike Reiss

New York Jets: Tuesday is game-plan day, and that means the Jets have to figure out a way to contain Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski, who has five touchdowns and an 18.5-yard receiving average. The Jets have struggled in the past against athletic tight ends, but new free safety Marcus Gilchrist has man-to-man coverage ability. He should have a prominent nfl draft role in the game plan. — Rich CiminiAFC NORTH

Baltimore Ravens: Joe Flacco Jerseys is starting to press because of a struggling defense and lack of playmakers at wide receiver, which has led to increased mistakes. He has thrown interceptions in five of six games this season, including two in Sunday’s 25-20 loss to the 49ers. How big are those turnovers? Since 2013, Flacco has thrown 29 interceptions in losses (19 games) and 12 interceptions in wins (19 games). — Jamison Hensley

Cincinnati Bengals: The Bengals, who are on a bye, have a pretty quiet next few days coming up. As coach Marvin Lewis mentioned Monday, this be a good opportunity for players banged up in Sunday’s 34-21 victory at Buffalo to get healthy. Lewis indicated he believed defenders Michael Johnson, Darqueze Dennard and Vincent Rey should be good to go at Pittsburgh in Week 8. It’s likely the Bengals practice only one day this week. — Coley Harvey

Cleveland Browns: Mike Pettine spent a fair amount of time answering questions about Johnny Manziel on Monday, a week after Manziel’s driving incident and argument with his girlfriend. Pettine stressed that the team is supporting Manziel through his treatment process, and that Manziel “made huge strides around this building” since he left a treatment center in April. — Pat McManamon

Pittsburgh Steelers: The Steelers have an off-day Tuesday, and that gives Michael Vick the chance to rehab his hamstring injury, Ben Roethlisberger more rest before Wednesday’s practice and Landry Jones one more day to hit the playbook in preparation for a potential start against the Chiefs. A three-headed quarterback is intact. Meanwhile, Martavis Bryant is showing he’s adaptable to any quarterback after his 137-yard, two-touchdown season debut. The Steelers are encouraged by the receiver’s progress. — Jeremy FowlerAFC SOUTH

Houston Texans: Texans coach Bill O’Brien said it is unlikely that cornerback Kareem Jackson (ankle) and linebacker Benardrick McKinney (concussion) will play Sunday against the Dolphins. O’Brien added that we should check back at the end of the week in case that’s changed. — Tania Ganguli

Indianapolis Colts: Coach Chuck Pagano said safeties Mike Adams (hamstring) and Clayton Geathers (knee) are day-to-day after both left Sunday’s game against New England with injuries. Adams is the backbone of the Colts’ secondary, and Indianapolis nfl jerseys likes to use Geathers on athletic tight ends because of his physical abilities. — Mike Wells

Jacksonville Jaguars: The X-ray results on wide receiver Allen Robinson’s shin were negative, which is good news for the Jaguars. Tight end Julius Thomas suffered a rib contusion after falling on the ball Sunday, but he is not expected to miss Sunday’s game against Buffalo in London. — Mike DiRocco

Tennessee Titans: Marcus Mariota has a sprained left knee, but the Titans are not sharing what grade the sprain is. While he moved well Monday around the team facility, what he’s able to do in Wednesday’s practice will tell us a lot about who will take the snaps Sunday against Atlanta. Zach Mettenberger is the backup. — Paul KuharskyAFC WEST

Denver Broncos: With outside linebacker Shane Ray expected to miss several weeks because of a sprained MCL in his knee, the Broncos will lean on Shaquil Barrett to pick up some additional snaps. Barrett, who started in place of DeMarcus Ware against the Browns on Sunday, has been one of the Broncos’ most efficient impact players all season. Against Cleveland, Barrett played 70 snaps on defense and had a sack, forced fumble and fumble recovery, all on one game-changing play. He consistently harassed Browns quarterback Josh McCown, was active at the point of attack in the run game and came within an eyelash of an interception as well. — Jeff Legwold

Kansas City Chiefs: Coach Andy Reid said he was encouraged by the debut of Charcandrick West as the featured back in Sunday’s loss to Minnesota. West rushed for 33 yards on nine carries, but he failed to convert on a key fourth-and-1 and also lost a fumble in the fourth quarter. “He had a couple good blitz pickups,” Reid cheap jerseys said. “He had a couple of good runs. He ran hard, aggressive.” — Adam Teicher

Oakland Raiders: The good news, as the Raiders return from their bye week, is that their run defense is ranked No. 4 in the league, allowing 83.2 yards a game. The bad news is that teams are instead opting to throw all game on the Raiders. Oakland has the NFL’s 30th-ranked pass defense, allowing 299.2 yards a game. That is something that has to be addressed with a visit to San Diego coming Sunday. Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers leads the NFL with 2,116 passing yards. — Bill Williamson

San Diego Chargers: Coach Mike McCoy was asked if Melvin Gordon will return to the starting lineup after being benched against the Green Bay Packers for fumbling, and McCoy said cheap nfl jerseys he’s going to do what’s best for the team. McCoy said the Chargers discussed Gordon’s fumbling issues as a group Monday. He later added that Gordon will get some carries Sunday in San Diego’s first AFC West division game against the Oakland Raiders. But whether Gordon is the starter or comes off the bench remains to be seen. “We’re going to move on,” McCoy said. “We’re going to give him the ball again. And when he’s in there he’s got to protect it. And he understands that.” — Eric D. WilliamsNFC EAST

Dallas Cowboys: For the first time this season, the Cowboys’ pass rush should be at full strength now that rookie defensive end Randy Gregory is returning from a high ankle sprain, suffered in the regular-season opener, and Greg Hardy playing his second game. During training camp, the Cowboys felt they would be able to get to the quarterback with Gregory and DeMarcus Lawrence at defensive end and Hardy and Tyrone Crawford at tackle. With the way the Cowboys like to rotate their defensive linemen, they feel they can Wholesale Jerseys maximize their nickel pass-rushers better. — Todd Archer

New York Giants: Last year, the Giants were 3-2, came into Philadelphia and lost 27-0 in Week 6. It was the beginning of a seven-game losing streak. This year, the Giants were 3-2, came into Philadelphia and lost 27-7. While that seems to represent only incremental progress, the Giants insist this year will be different. “All our goals are still right in front of us,” guard Justin Pugh said. “This is nowhere near last year’s team. We’ve just got to go back to work and get ready to play Dallas [on Sunday]. Because we owe Dallas.” — Dan Graziano

Philadelphia Eagles: The Eagles’ challenge this week is simple enough. Get over a big division win against the Giants on Monday night and shift their focus to the undefeated Panthers. The Eagles beat Carolina 45-21 in Philadelphia last season. This game figures to be very, very different. — Phil Sheridan

Washington Redskins: The run game was supposed to be a strength this season; instead, it has turned into a mystery over the past four weeks. Injuries played a role in the Redskins’ ineffective game versus the Jets — they gained only 34 yards on 17 carries. But it extends beyond Week 6. In the past three games, no back has topped 62 yards in a game, and in the past two weeks, no back has a gain longer than nine yards. — John KeimNFC NORTH

Chicago Bears: The Bears practice Tuesday and Wednesday before taking the rest of the week off. Coach John Fox said he will not discuss specific injuries until after the bye, but he did acknowledge the week off is an opportunity to rest banged-up players. The Bears clearly missed inside linebacker Shea McClellin and safety Antrel Rolle in their overtime loss at Ford Field. Fox said the coaches will use the bye week to self-scout, specifically the Bears’ red-zone offense, which has failed to generate an acceptable number of touchdowns. The Bears went 3-for-8 in red-zone efficiency in Week 6. The Lions converted 3 of 5 chances. — Jeff Dickerson

Detroit Lions: Watch for potential running back workouts Tuesday after Zach Zenner (cracked ribs, punctured lung) was effectively lost for the season during Sunday’s win over Chicago. The Lions have George Winn on the practice squad and he could be a candidate for a call-up. Detroit has also brought in running backs in recent weeks for workouts. With Joique Bell inactive Sunday and Theo Riddick suffering an injury last week in practice — but playing — the Detroit backfield is clearly beaten up. — Michael Rothstein

Green Bay Packers: The Packers got good news on receiver Ty Montgomery, who sustained no more damage other than the sprained ankle he suffered against the Chargers. The bye week should give the rookie a chance to play in the Packers’ next game, on Nov. 1 at Denver. — Rob Demovsky

Minnesota Vikings: Sharrif Floyd had a half-sack, caused a holding penalty that could have gone for a safety and helped hold the Chiefs to 57 rushing yards Sunday. But coach Mike Zimmer said Floyd can be even better if he stops thinking so much. “He’s a better player when he just lets it loose,” Zimmer said. “He’s a pleaser. Sometimes guys want to be perfect all the time, but you’ve got to just cut it loose.” — Ben GoesslingNFC SOUTH
